Sometimes, something gotta give

I should be sorry for the moments I am scarce on here, scratch that, I am sorry.

I see the accusation in his eyes, even though he doesn’t say it, I hug him. I love my father.

But I have found a way to deal with my guilt -a true realization, and this is that a parenting blogger is a parent. In simple terms, you will often be too overwhelmed to write, and this isn’t good, but it is alright.

So that’s all about real life influenced scarcity, let’s talk about today’s own -artificial scarcity.

On sunday last week, my father had complained about my recent emotional absence, no calls, no sms, no replies to any. I had been calculating my food plan for the week when I heard laughter downstairs.

“Mommy, your daddy is here!” screamed 100Watts.

That line also scares me, where is the time off in this motherhood business?

I see the accusation in his eyes, even though he doesn’t say it, I hug him. I love my father.

“I am going to pick your mother”

“Finally!”

I was happy, you see, my sister had colonized my mother for weeks since she put to bed, Omugwo. I was glad that the rest of us could have her back. Even though a part of me wondered if this is how I have had her to myself alone three good times.

Have you listened to Onyeka Onwenu’s Ochie dike remix with Phyno? You should!

A line that strikes me “Nwata tocha nwe muta nwa nke ya, onye ga abia omugwo bu mama -when a child grows and has her own child, it is still mother that will come for Omugwo.

That line also scares me, where is the time off in this motherhood business?

But last sunday, one full week off was offered me when my kids asked

“Grandpa, can we follow you till the weekend?”

My heartbeat faster at the idea

“Oya enter the car” he smiled at them.

Sometimes, something gotta give, a holiday from parenting may also be a holiday from blogworthy gist.

Kai, the speed I used to run into their room.

“Heeeyyys, oya bring your boxers, put four”

“Bring your sisters’ socks, put three each”

“Where is your nightwear?”

No coordination, I threw all I could grab into the box and off they went.

Forty-eight hours after, I said to myself

“Finally you can blog!”

But where was my story? And this is six days after, nobody has been around to annoy me, no fights to separate, no childish wit to laugh about, nothing!

Sometimes, something gotta give, a holiday from parenting may also be a holiday from blogworthy gist.

…except when you decide to write about how you have nothing to write about.

Live easy,

Achalugo
Bonus: I attended a party with Kabiyesi today, his photo capture skills have greatly improved!

I like the way I laugh, without a care in the world.xo
